English Premier League clubside Chelsea have been blamed for the decline of Anglo-Nigerian striker Dominic Ayodele “Dom” Solanke-Mitchel this season according to reports monitored by papilonews.com
According to Triba lFootball. founder Chris Beattie, this time last year, Dominic Solanke had the world at his feet.In Holland, on-loan with Vitesse Arnhem, Solanke’s performances had pundits likening his impact to a young Ronaldo at PSV or Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Ajax. The striker was looking every bit the world-beater those that had followed his progress through the ranks at Chelsea had proclaimed.
Fast-forward to today and it appears his Blues career is over. He’s back at Cobham where his chances of playing are minimal as he is 3rd choice striker behind Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi instead of going out on loan like many other Chelsea youngsters.
Solanke has long been touted as one of the most highly-rated young forwards in England and was last year invited to train with the England senior team, having played international football at all age groups up to Under-21.
But Solanke is in danger of slipping behind his Chelsea team-mates Tammy Abraham and Izzy Brown, who have been loaned out to Bristol City and Rotherham United respectively.
Contrary to some claims, Chelsea management haven’t dumped the youngster. He is still also available for the U23s. But after last season’s superb spell on-loan in Holland, all that progress has stalled and the player seems to be in the decline at the tender age of just 19.
