Heartland Embroiled In Managerial Dispute

Relegated Heartland FC of Owerri Chairman has released a statement claiming that he remains at the helms of affairs as Chairman rather than being the General Manager as purported in some quarters.

Part of the statement reads: in reference to the media statement by the deputy speaker, Imo state House of Assembly, Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo on his puported dissolution of Heartland FC management team led by me on Friday 21st of October, 2016, a radio station, Hot FM, Owerri in its morning sports programme, aired a statement by the Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo a.k.a. OZB where he said that my administration led Heartland FC into relegation. This was after he had gathered some of my staff in his office the previous day to announce a dissolution of the management team and re-appointment of my person now as a general manager. I wish to state here that I took over as chairman of Heartland FC from the same Hon. Ozuruigbo about three months ago specifically on the 25th of July, 2016.”

It further noted: ” Also, I have been inundated by enquiries over the purported dissolution of Heartland FC management team led by me and subsequent reappointment of myself as the new general manager by Hon. Ozuruigbo. The fact remains that I was appointed the chairman of Heartland FC by the state government and the same government appointed Hon. Ozuruigbo as a supervisor in Heartland FC. If my position is to change, the same government will write and inform me that I am no longer the chairman of the club but this has not happened. I have checked and found that the government has neither removed me as chairman nor has it directed anybody to dissolve my management team. Instead, what has happened was that the supervisor was telling the chairman that he had dissolved the management and that I would now be a general manager. I say no to that. I am ready to work with Hon. Ozuruigbo as long as he is willing to limit his activities to the areas of his appointment.”

Meanwhile the Naze Millionaires have been handed a new office flat by the goverment of Imo state.

The presentation was made by the Commissioner for Youth, Sports & Public Safety,  Chief Rodney Ajaelu in a ceremony held at the premises of the new club house located at the Ikemba Ojukwu Centre, New Owerri.
