Iwobi Not Going To Barca- Dad

ALEX IWOBI will not be leaving Arsenal for European giants Barcelona, according to the player’s father.

The Nigerian forward, 20, has established himself as a first-team squad regular at the Emirates this season, turning out 14 times in all competitions already this term.

With the youngster’s stock rising – having burst into the first team at Arsene Wenger‘s Arsenal last season – a host of clubs are chasing his signature, but Iwobi‘s dad, Chuka, claims he isn’t going anywhere.

Chuka said: “At this point in time, he is at the right place.
“He’s doing well at Arsenal, but should any club come for him now, the answer would certainly be no.

“For him now, it’s not about the money. So, should a club like Barcelona come with more money, he will certainly stay back at Arsenal.

“Now it is not about him making money, it’s about him concentrating on his career, progressing and going on to the next stage.”

Iwobi – the nephew of former Premier League star Jay-Jay Okocha – has been on the books of Arsenal’s youth team his entire life.

He has made 25 appearances for the Gunners, including 21 last season, netting twice.

So far in 2016-17, Iwobi – who has seven international caps to his name – has played in nine of Arsenal’s 11 Premier League matches.
