Former Plateau United striker George Akpabio sccored another beautiful solo goal for his Isreali Liga Leumit side Hapoel Katamon to help them pip hapless Maccabi Ahi Nazareth 6-1 last weekend in front of 33,500 home fans at the Teddi Malcha Stadium in Jerusalem.
With his side one nil up in the 51st minute George was helping his team by doing his defensive duties as the opponents pushed for an equaliser. Then he
collected the ball midway into his own half on a counter attack and took off at top speed towards the opponent’s goal area.
Maccabi’s last defender flew in to tackle him around the centre circle but he dribbled past him and ran 40 yards with the ball at his feet and coolly slotted in under the unrushing goal keeper to score his third league goal since joining the club in January.
Hapoel Katamon’s fortunes have changed for the better since George joined them. They’ve gone from a relegation haunted team to 6th place in the Liga Leumit table.
