Newcastle are interested in Celtic defender Efe Ambrose, according to Scottish Sun journalist Kenny MacDonald.
The Nigerian international has been on loan at Scottish Championship side Hibernian this season, playing under former Hoops boss Neil Lennon, but the Magpies are said to be interested in the 28 year old to give Newcastle’s defence some much needed experience.
The centre back has played in the Champions League for Celtic, and also has 47 caps for Nigeria. Considering he has been playing in the second tier of Scottish football this campaign however, a move by manager Rafa Benitez seems extremely unlikely.
The Scottish Sun have however linked the Magpies with a bid for another Celtic player, Jozo Simunovic. The Croatian has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park in recent weeks and it seems the £9million rated centre half is one of the names on club’s summer transfer wish list to shore up the backline for the Premier League.
