Two first half goals from Taylor Adebayo and Shadrack Nwoju was enough for Papilo FC to see off visiting Osun United in the match day 22 fixture of the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The game started with the visitors more composed on the ball, but it was the Owerri based side that show more desperation by netting a goal in the first five minutes which was ruled off side by the centre referee.
In another attack that followed immediately, Papilo FC attacker Taylor Adebayo opened the score line for his side after volleying in a square ball in the 6th minute.
Osun United restored parity to the game in the 27th minute through Jide Fatokun who ran into a corner kick after Papilo FC defenders failed to clear their line.
The third goal of the game came in the first half. Papilo FC took the lead again profiting from a goalmouth scramble, which Shadrack Njoku nipped at the back of the net.
Shadrack recorded his 5th goal in colours of Papilo FC becoming joint top scorer with Success Chigozie. Papilo FC are now 10th on the log.
Post match reactions:
Obinna Yaryar, Papilo FC Chief coach:
“I think my boys are beginning to look beyond their challenges off and on the pitch. We are on a steady rise up the log and I believe with such attention to details and more fighting spirit we will get to a good position before the end of the league.
“I made some changes to the squad. We have some foreigners who have yet to fully integrate into the squad, but I believe with time they will get over the language barrier and begin to communicate better with their team mate on the pitch.”
