In a bid to avoid club hooliganism and drive for more support, Nigeria National League leaders, Heartland FC organized a seminar to educate their fans on the dangers of violence, fanaticism and the importance of organized supporters’ club.
President of Heartland FC Hon. Chibuzo Etuemena opened conference by highlighting the merits of selfless sacrifice desired by the club and further admonished that members should not allow their passion or emotion override logic or reason.
One of the resource persons, Dr. Amos Agwamba, a former Chairman of Imo Referee Association emphasized the importance of education of the laws of the game.
He also explained some laws of the game and the modifications made to them in recent times.
The former Director of Sport of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede encouraged Hearland’s club officials, players, the press and supporters to exhibit good character and act professionally in the discharge of their duty.
The other speaker, Barr, Ifeanyi Dike spoke on the importance of the supporters’ club and ways in which fans and followers of a football club can support or show commitment and be patriotic to their team. He, however, challenged organized supporters group and club management to be thorough in the process of admitting new members.
The legal luminary challenged the supporters to be watchful against impostors who might want to ferment trouble by masquerading as supporters or fan.
An interactive session followed the paper presentations with the secretary of the club Mr. Cajetan Nkwopara reacting on behalf of the management.
The convention ended with a firm resolve from the fans and supporters to support the club devoid of violence.
