Owerri based side, Papilo FC have picked an other point on the road after they held host, My People FC to a 1-1 draw in Lagos in the Matchday 23 encounter of the Nigeria National League (NNL), Southern Conference.
The host took the lead in the second half of the game, but Ivorian import Koffi immediately restored parity to compound the woes of the the homers who are at the base of the table.
This victory moves Papilo FC to the 9th position as they prepare to tackle Ikorodu United in the next fixture, at the Dan Anyiam stadium, Owerri.
Speaking to reporters after the game, head coach of Papilo FC Obinna Yaryar noted that his lads prepared for the game and were hopeful for the maximum point, but they are contented with the draw.
Hear him: “My boys came out today for the three points, but unfortunately we were able to secure one point. We are good with the result and my lads are in high spirit. They want to keep playing and winning.”
About his side’s performance after the start of the second stanza, he stressed that: “since the second stanza of the league, we have lost just one game and I know we are getting to know each other the more. The team has more purpose and show they are ambitious anytime they come on the pitch.
“I have made a few changes and I believe by the time they blend, we will get better results and finish well on the league table”
Papilo FC who are gradually gaining notches up the log will host 13 placed Ikorodu United in the NNL Matchday 24 fixtures.
