An ecstatic Kanu, who spoke to www.papilonews.com noted “it is a special day today, knowing that it is my birthday. I have my wife and my kids here to celebrate with me”.

He further highlighted events that have been lined up for the celebration. “As part of the celebration, we have organized a football tourney for tertiary institutions in Imo state which will run for about a week. We also kicked off the Kanu Sports Centre basket ball clinic where we called on the expertise of a renown coach from USA, Mathew McCauley who will identify the talents among the lads and help us groom them further, including granting them scholarships to America. I also have my friends from the motherless babies home that I usually support. They are all here to celebrate with me and enjoy the day,” Kanu stated.

As for the basketball clinic, Kanu noted that it is going to be an annual event, which he will sponsor to get the best out of budding basketball talents.

The highlight of the event was the kick off of the clinic and musical performers from entertainers as well as cutting of the cake with the orphans, friends and family.
