Former Heartland FC goal poacher, Babangida Hassan’s second season with Akwa United did not go down well as the forward was placed on the side line almost through out the season due to an injury he copped in a week five clash against Katsina United.

Babangida told that his objective for the season was stained no thanks to an hamstring injury that kept him out for a long period, but upon return he will make sure he helps the Promise Keepers have a good outing in the AITEO Cup.

“I was not having playing time because I was out for a better period of the season because of an hamstring injury. I am happy to be back, but the injury has robbed me of some great moments and objectives,” Babangida said to

After returning to action at the tail end of the football league season, the attacker has scored tow goals in 2 appearances in the AITEO Cup, which has seen Akwa United progress to the round of 16 where they will host Shooting Stars Sports club.

“Before the season commenced, I had the objective of scoring goals for my team and to make sure I made it to the Super Eagles team B who will represent Nigeria in the CHAN competition. It didn’t work out that way, but I am fit now and I am ready to help Akwa United lift the AITEO Cup which will give us an entry into the continent,” Babangida further stated.
