Former Sunshine Stars striker Okiki Afolabi resurfaced in Ethiopia and continued his goal scoring exploits in his first competitive game in almost a year when his two late goals gave his new club Jimma Aba Jifar a 2-0 victory over Hawassa Ketema in the opening day of the Ethiopian Premier League.
Okiki was run away top scorer by the midway mark of the Nigerian Premier league two seasons ago but left on an ill advised trip to Argentina where he did not get to kick a ball till late December, playing 46 minutes in his only competitive game for Talleres de Córdoba.
Since then, he has seen a move to Kelantan Football Association of Malaysia fall through and did not see any competitive action to his Jimma City Fc debut last Saturday against the visiting Hawassa Ketema.
The homers were the better side of the first 45 with Afolabi spearheading their attack but were unable to break the deadlock till very late in the game. In the 89th minute a long ball from Yehune Endeshaw found Afolabi who slotted home to break the deadlock. Temsgen Gebrekidane set up Afolabi to complete his brace.
