Top Indian professional league side, Churchill Brothers FC has finally acquired the services of Nigerian forward, Nwaimo Eric Obinna on a season-long deal. The I-League outfit believes that the former Jeunesse Sportive Massara of Morocco attacker will improve their chances of regaining their stand as one of Asia top team and get a place in the elite AFC Challenge Cup.
Nwaimo has joined his new teammates and is already part of the squad to honour an away game against Shilong Lajong this weekend. Churchill will be playing their opening match and for the newly appointed head coach Shevchenko, tomorrow’s match will be his first.
“We have not had too much time to prepare as the foreigners arrived late but for the Indian players, the preparation has been good,” Shevchenko said to Hindustantimes.
“It is a fresh team and we will get better game by game,” he added.
Nwaimo who helped for Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Abia Warriors avoid relegation last two seasons have garnered enough international experience having played in Tunisia, Morocco among others. He made the move to feature for the Red Machines admits interests from other top NPFL clubs.
